About the Film
1ST RUNNER UP: YOUNG FILMMAKERS SHOWCASE COMPETITION - AGES 18-26
Despite barriers for people of color, it’s remarkable what a difference one talented African American couple makes when they simultaneously grow a family through foster adoption, grow their sci-fi publishing business, and unite an intergenerational Pacific Northwest community – all through the magic of books.
Director Biography – Caleb Jacobson
As an Oregonian, I have been privileged to grow up surrounded by Pacific Northwest beauty as a guest on Tribal lands. Through my storytelling, I seek to inspire audiences to feel the same sense of awe and humility that I do when out exploring and learning about the social and environmental issues affecting our region. When not busy studying at Oregon State, I enjoy spending time in the outdoors rock climbing and mountaineering.
Director Statement
I met the Parker family through the Oregon Post Adoption Resource Center (ORPARC) where I volunteer. I had an opportunity to do a film project for a documentary class at Oregon State University and their story seemed really compelling. The Parkers are generously involved in giving back to the community and are such positive spirits. From foster-adopting to writing and publishing, their commitment to changing the world, both in action and in words, inspires me tremendously.
Believe in Wonder
