Friday Harbor Film Festival is seeking documentary feature and short films to include in the annual festival scheduled for October 21-30, 2022.
Professional filmmakers, amateurs, and students are encouraged to submit their work for consideration. The submission deadline for features and short films is June 1, 2022. The student film deadline is September 1, 2022. Check out all the details and submit entries at filmfreeway.com/FHFF.
The festival will feature documentaries highlighting fascinating island cultures, marine ecology, heroic adventures, sustainable agriculture, social justice, current environmental issues, and stirring stories of human interest. They will be divided by theme: Explorers & Adventures, Things to Consider, and Tales from the Heart.
Feature Documentary and Docudrama Films have a running time of 41 minutes or longer. Short Films, not limited to documentaries, have a running time of 40 minutes or less. Student Films, with a running time of 2 to 15 minutes, will be divided into two age groups: 11-17 years and 18-26 years.
Select films will show at scheduled times during opening weekend, October 21 – 23, followed by filmmaker Q&As. FHFF will stream documentaries, shorts, and student films for 7 days: October 24-30, 2022. The livestreamed Q&A sessions will be recorded and shown with each of the VOD viewings.
Audience Choice Awards in several categories are chosen by votes of the viewing audience. FHFF plans to host a ceremony on Sunday 10/23, presenting the following awards:

Student Film Audience Choice Awards in each age category
