Killing Our Saline Lakes

Directed by:

Kevin Clark

ABOUT THE FILM

Lake Abert in Oregon, Mono Lake in California, and the Great Salt Lake in Utah are rare hypersaline lakes that nourish millions of birds along the Pacific Flyway with their brine shrimp and alkali flies. Water diversions have left Lake Abert dry three out of the last eight years. Mono Lake and Great Salt Lake have lost fifty percent of their water. Climate change has resulted in lower snow and rain levels making an uncertain future for the lakes and the birds that depend on them.
