Director Biography - Evan Bayless
Evan Bayless, based in Seattle, WA, is a multifaceted director, writer, and editor whose journey into filmmaking began at a young age. Following an injury sustained during his college baseball career and compounded by an autoimmune disease diagnosis, Bayless realized the importance of pursuing his passion wholeheartedly. Since then, he has founded a successful freelance media company (Evan Bayless Media) contributed to numerous documentary projects, and is pursuing his degree in Film at Seattle University.
Director Statement
I took on the role of directing the film 'Rat Brain' after a conversation with a friend who was part of the research exploring possible connections between neural inflammation in rats and suicide. I found the methods they were using fascinating, so I wanted to dig deeper. While there were some ethical concerns to navigate, I aimed to keep the film focused on the facts and let viewers decide for themselves where they stand on the matter. Having the opportunity to work with people who are doing potentially life-saving research was such a privilege and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to share this film with the world!
