Director Statement

Magdalena recently graduated from Colorado College with a BA in Film and Media Studies & Psychology. She has a passion for documentary filmmaking—Mags aims to create films that raise awareness and inspire change while entertaining the audience. Besides working on school projects, Mags also works as an editor for a non-profit organization "Far Away Friends". The short, observational documentary “Nach Hause (Towards Home)” is the highlight of her work—Mags co-received an Exploration and a Venture Grant from Colorado College with Audrey and Fargol to create this film. Mags worked as the lead director and editor.


Fargol recently graduated from Colorado College with a BA in Psychology and a minor in German Studies. "Nach Hause" is her debut film, she co-received the Colorado College Best Film Award with Mags and Audrey. Fargol wielded her personal experience combined with her understanding of Psychology as a co-director and main subject to further the depth of this project. Fargol wants to continue research in Psychology and apply for graduate school in the US this year.


Audrey has co-produced and co-directed three short films. Her first film, Kabwe Ka Mukuba, won the Colorado College Best Film Award and was screened at five festivals, winning the Friday Harbor Second Place Audience Award. Audrey's second film, Root Bound, will premiere on the online portion of the Seattle Film Festival. Nach Hause (Towards Home) also won the Colorado College Best Film Award. She graduated from Colorado College with distinction in Film and Media Studies and Italian Studies. Since graduating, she has worked as a co-editor on a documentary film about environmental degradation in Kenya and Somalia and as a film intern in Seattle, Washington. She worked as the lead cinematographer and co-producer of this project and additionally assisted in directing and editing.
